As a local lifestyle journalist and real estate agent, I’m always exploring what makes Wilmington tick.

And one thing that always impresses me is the sheer variety of unique event venues we have here.

Whether you’re planning a wedding, a corporate gathering, or a birthday bash, Wilmington has a space that’s perfect for you.

Let me take you on a tour of some of my favorites:

The Wilmington Convention Center: Modern and Maritime

The Wilmington Convention Center (WCC) is a real showstopper. It’s the only convention center on the North Carolina coast, and it boasts over 107,000 square feet of flexible event space.

I love how the design incorporates nautical elements, like the curved exterior that reminds me of a ship’s sail.

Inside, you’ll find wave-like terrazzo flooring and chandeliers that look like boat propellers. It’s a nod to Wilmington’s rich maritime history, and it creates a really unique atmosphere.

The WCC is also LEED Silver-certified, which is important to me as someone who cares about sustainability.

It has a massive exhibit hall, a grand ballroom, and smaller meeting rooms, so it can handle events of all sizes.

Plus, there’s an outdoor event lawn with stunning views of the Cape Fear River.

Historic Wilmington NC Event Venues

Wilmington’s historic district is one of the largest in the US, and it’s full of architectural gems. Many of these historic buildings have been beautifully restored and now serve as event venues.

Brooklyn Arts Center

This former church from 1888 is simply breathtaking. It has 60-foot cathedral ceilings, arched windows, and original brick walls . I can just imagine a wedding reception there, with the light streaming through the stained glass windows.

Saint Thomas Preservation Hall

Another stunning church-turned-venue, Saint Thomas Preservation Hall dates back to 1847 . The exposed brick walls and high ceilings create a dramatic backdrop for any event.

And there’s more!

Wilmington has a wealth of other historic venues, like the Bellamy Mansion Museum, the Burgwin-Wright House, and The Graystone Inn. Each one has its own unique character and story to tell.

Embracing the Coastal Vibe

Wilmington’s coastal location means we have some amazing outdoor event spaces.

Oak Island

Just south of Wilmington, Oak Island offers miles of pristine beaches perfect for sunset gatherings. I’ve seen some incredible weddings on the beach there, with the ocean as a backdrop.

Little Drum Landing

This waterfront deck at the south end of the Riverwalk is a great spot for a relaxed reception or party.

Live Oak Bank Pavilion

This outdoor concert venue can hold over 7,000 people, making it ideal for large-scale events.

Waterfront Properties and Yacht Clubs

For those seeking a more private setting, Wilmington has some incredible waterfront properties available for rent. Imagine hosting your event in a luxurious beach house or a historic estate overlooking the water.

And don’t forget about our yacht clubs! They offer a unique waterfront setting with a touch of exclusivity.

Inlet Watch Yacht Club, Cape Fear Marina, and Bradley Creek Yacht Club are just a few of the options

Unique Venues with a Twist

Wilmington also has some truly unique venues that offer something a little different.

Station No. 2

This renovated 1915 fire station is now a charming event space with a stylish, rustic vibe.

Wilmington is a City of Venues

As you can see, Wilmington has an incredible range of event venues to choose from.

Whether you’re looking for historic charm, modern elegance, or coastal vibes, you’re sure to find the perfect space for your next gathering.

And as a realtor, I can tell you that this variety of venues is just one of the many things that makes Wilmington such a special place to live and visit.
